For three days in Poland we could watched the best sumo athletes in Europe. To Krotoszyn City for European Sumo Championships 2016 arrived over 400 players from many countries. Event started on Friday, 22 April. In brand new Sports Hall of Krotoszyn were a lot of emotions.

Tribune were full of viewers. Atmosphere was brilliant. Athletes fighted in four age groups: U18, U21, U23 and senior ( women and men). Rivalry was stubborn. Most medals (90) got representatives of Russia. Second in ranking of medalists were polish representatives (70) and third were representatives of Estonia (23). On Saturday was held Congress of European Sumo Federation, in which took part representatives of each country was member of ESF. Representatives talked about the future and development of sumo in Europe. They have chosen new authorities and have accepted new statue. During Congress to european sumo family joined Israel and Latvia. Representatives made decision unanonimously and accepted Israel and Latvia as ESF’s members.
